7 Tips For Your Smoothest Bikini Line Shave Ever

by: Sub Cat

Nothing is more of a summer bummer than a itchy, red, bumpy bikini line and pesky ingrown hairs! Before ingrown hairs cramp your style (or make you cancel your next d*ck appointment), read on for SlutBox’s 7 essential tips for your smoothest bikini line shave ever.

Exfoliate! Exfoliate! Exfoliate!

The most important rule for soft, smooth, touchable sexy skin everywhere - exfoliate! Keep a body scrub in your shower and get in the habit of scrubbing down a few times a week. Exfoliating regularly will remove dead skin cells, increase your glow, and reduce the risk of ingrown hairs by whisking away dead skin cells before hairs can get trapped underneath them! We love this sugar scrub by Hand In Hand.

Grab A Fresh Razor

We get it - razors are expensive, and it’s tempting to get your money’s worth by reusing the same blade over and over and over. The problem is that shaving with a dull razor takes twice as long, because you have to keep going over an area to get a close shave, and all that repeated shaving can irritate your sensitive skin and can lead to ingrown hairs! If you use a disposable razor, be sure to toss that sucker out after using. If you’re using a reusable razor, make sure you’re switching the razor heads frequently (after about three shaves max!).

Lather Up!

Don’t skimp on the shaving cream! We love this shaving cream from Swedish skincare company DeoDoc (featured in our Inaugural Box) that’s actually perfectly formulated to balance your body’s natural pH! (Dedicated Sluts will remember Deo Doc from our Inaugural SlutBox!) Remember, absolutely no dry shaving (no matter how late you’re running!)

Try Shaving In The Direction Of Your Hair Growth

Try switching up your shaving technique! Chances are you’re probably shaving against the grain of your hair to get the closest possible shave. Instead, they shaving with the direction of your hair growth. This technique will irritate your skin less, and in my humble opinion, a slightly less-close shave is a fair trade-off for less irritated skin! If you can, try trimming your hair rather than shaving all the way down to the skin - it’ll give you skin a break, and plus, a lil scruff is sexy!

Snag Some After-Shave Products

Men have been using aftershave products to soothe irritated skin and prevent ingrown hairs for decades, so why shouldn’t you? There’s a ton of products on the market to prevent ingrown hairs and calm stressed skin - some of our favorites are: the Bliss Bump Attendant Pads ($20), the Completely Bare Bikini Bump Blaster Ingrown Hair & Bikini Bump Eliminator ($9.99), and the Anthony Ingrown Hair Treatment ($32).

Apply A Cold Compress

This skincare hack is totally free! No extra products needed. After shaving, simply run a clean towel or washcloth under cold water, wring out, and apply to your skin for a few minutes. Not only will the cool water feel great on your skin, but it will also help reduce redness and irritation! Win-win.

Try a Different Hair-Removal Method

If you find that you just can’t dodge the ingrown hairs no matter how much exfoliating you’re doing, it may be time to consider switching to a different hair removal method like waxing or sugaring. With waxing and sugaring, hair is removed at the root which means longer regrowth time. Just remember to keep exfoliating so those hairs grow back where they’re supposed to!
