How To Actually Drink More Water Every Day
We all know we’re supposed to drink more water. People say that eight full glasses a day is a good baseline. But lets be honest - sometimes a glass of rosé with brunch, that third cup of coffee or an extra large diet coke gets in the way of our H20-intake goals. So how do you trick yourself into actually drinking more water and staying hydrated all day long? Here’s a few tips and tricks!
Use Your Phone
You have an app for everything - so why not download an app for monitoring your water intake, too? The Waterlogged app (available on iPhone and Android) makes keeping track of how many glasses you're guzzling a breeze. You might be surprised how much (or little) you're consuming!
Add Some Flavor
It’s a lot easier to choose plain H20 over soda if that water has a little taste! To make your own super-natural gourmet flavoring, simply chop up some fresh lemons, cucumbers and mint leaves to infuse into your drink for an all-natural, zero-calorie flavor boost. It doesn't take much to dress up a plain ol' glass of tap water! No packets of Crystal Light required!
Invest in a Gorgeous Reusable Water Bottle
Is this health kick really just an excuse to shop? Maybe, if you play your cards right! But seriously, you’re more likely to drink more aqua if you have a cute reusable bottle to refill throughout the day. I like this one, which has Smoky Quartz Crystal for an extra boost of hydration plus a little crystal healing.
Keep a Pitcher of Cool Water in the Fridge
If tap water isn’t great in your city, invest in a Brita Filter or snag an artful pitcher like this one from Crate & Barrel. I know that I'm waaaay more likely to drink a glass of water if its ice cold. If you don't have room in your fridge for a bulky pitcher, just fill up a reusable water bottle and keep it in the fridge!
Set A Reminder
If all else fails, set a reminder on your phone or laptop. Every couple hours, remind yourself to get up and grab a glass of water. (Self care tip: it's a good idea to get up from your desk every so often to stretch your legs anyways!) Label each reminder with a dedicated emoji and a mantra to keep yourself motivated.
